More lights at Otway this winter

Get ready to do more skiing under the lights at the Otway Nordic Centre this winter.

The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club announced, on its Facebook page, that the Rickbeil family has made another donation for trail lighting (almost double of their previous donation).

They have asked  the club to extend the Rickbeil Nordic Light park to include the entire Red course (classic ski course). This include 41 new poles with more than 80 LED fixtures. Combined with the first phase of the Rickbeil Nordic Light Park (i.e. the Blue skate ski course/Race Maze), Caledonia Nordic will now have the first fully lit set of FIS homologated cross country ski trails in Canada.
In combination with the other lighting projects, Otway will have approximately 15 kilometres of lit ski trails plus new lighting in the terrain park, all with highly efficient LED lighting. Even with all this new lighting, the power consumption will be less than previous.
“In addition to extending our overwhelming gratitude to the Rickbeil family, we would also like to thank the Sons of Norway Foundation in Canada for facilitating the donation, and Westcana Electric Inc. and Lumisave Industrial LED Technologies Ltd. for providing extensive value-in-kind to make this project possible,” according to the Facebook post
All this lighting will all be in place for this ski season.
